The Trinity Term 2020 Schools’ Writing Competition is now closed. We have been blown over by the incredible response to this competition, we’ve received 535 submissions! This is the most we’ve ever got, we’re so happy that so many of you have written for us, and we are very excited to get reading.
St Hugh’s is very pleased to announce that the Mary Renault 2020 essay competition is now open for submissions. The deadline for essay submissions is 5pm on Friday 24th July 2020. The Mary Renault Prize is a Classical Reception essay prize for school or college sixth form pupils, awarded by the Principal and Fellows of St Hugh’s College, and funded by the royalties from Mary Renault’s.
Several Cambridge colleges run essay competitions related to Classics, for students in year 12. Whether you are planning to apply to Cambridge or not, we encourage you to get involved. Regent’s Park College is a small, dynamic community at the heart of the City and University of Oxford, specialising in the Arts and Humanities.. research skills, and to encourage them to consider interdisciplinary courses at university. Participation in an essay competition is also a great thing to include on university applications.

Newly released details: The University of Gloucester runs a RS and Philosophy competition open to both year twelve and year thirteen pupils. First prize is an ipad with amazon vouchers for runners up. The word limit is 1,500 (including footnotes) words and the deadline is October 24th. The website says that the essay can be any form (i.e Platonic style dialogues permitted!).
